Licensing
The Licensing Division plays a crucial role in regulating the real estate profession in Arizona to protect the public. Their services primarily revolve around issuing, renewing, and managing all real estate licenses in Arizona, including those for salespersons, brokers, cemetery, and membership camping professionals, as well as real estate brokerage entities.
Frequently Asked Questions - Licensing
To obtain an Arizona real estate license based on your out-of-state license, you must submit a licensing application after you meet the following criteria:
- You must be an Arizona resident
- You must have been licensed as a salesperson or broker in the other state for at least one year
- Your out-of-state license must be in a current status in good standing
- You must pass the Arizona-specific licensing exam and apply within one year.
The day you pass your license exam, you should receive an email from "[email protected]" with the number you will use on the Licensee Login. If have passed your exam and you cannot find this email, please be sure to check your Spam or Junk folder.
No, this is a common misconception. You have one year to apply for the license upon passing the exam. Upon receiving the license, it will be in the eligible status and can remain in that status indefinitely as long as you keep up to date with your continuing education and pay the license renewal fee every other year.
Eligible:
- This status indicates that a licensee has met all continuing education (CE) requirements and is eligible to be hired by an employing broker.
- Essentially, it represents a license that is ready to be made "active" upon association with a broker.
- This is the status that previously was known as "inactive".
Inactive:
- This is a distinct status allowing a licensee to maintain their license for up to 15 years without being associated with a broker, provided they continue to renew their license.
- However, to return to "Eligible" or "Active" status, the licensee must bring their CE requirements up to date.
- This status means that the licensee is not currently required to perform CE, but will be required to get current before being able to be hired by a broker.
When logged into the Licensee Login, there is an option to "Add a PC/PLLC" if your license is active.
Only a PC or PLLC may be added to an individual license for commission purposes.
In the original or amended Articles filed with the Arizona Corporation Commission, ensure the following are met:
*Name of the PLLC is the legal name(s) of the licensee(s) (No fictitious names)
*Only the legal name(s) of the licensee(s) are listed as members, members or officers
